And so I turn a year older..

I love birthdays, especially if it is mine. I like the date so much, I am almost in love with it. I check my monitor screen 2-3 times just because I like to see the date there. I eagerly wait for it when April starts and feel really sad when the day passes away.

So today is my birthday. My mom and father in law had come back to Bangalore to be with us. I wish my dad was able to come too, but no regrets :) We shopped yesterday for new clothes, new watches and new sunglasses (I lost my old pair :( ). Loved it!

Day started off as usual with everyone at home wishing. Son refused to wish saying, he will order me a McQueen cake and get me gifts (a McQueen car and a Disco car, mind you!) and wish me, all in due time. Not today, in due time! I am not sure when that would come ;)

Lots of folks called in the morning, aunts, cousins, my beshtesht friend etc But my co-sister clinched the day - she actually called and sang the whole birthday song! It made my day, I was so touched :)

Then at work, people wished, thanks to Facebook everyone knew ;)

Evening my team sprang a surprise on me with a birthday cake, which said, Happy Birthday and "The Boss" in the bottom. One of the guys in my team, actually got me a birthday card with some nice poetry and very nice stuff written in it - it was like getting transported to a bygone era where we actually got a lot of cards for every birthday. Amazing!

Lunch gang met up again at 4 and shared some cake :) (Only regret being that we were not able to catch up with one of the guys today, I so wanted to :( )

Subhash came home early - very early!

So many wishes on Facebook too :)

So, what is not to love about a birthday!!!

Birthday

Somehow I am always excited about my birthday. And today's best part has to be that the son sang the whole nine yards of the birthday song including "happy birthday dear Amma" and " may god bless you" and all that after vehemently refusing to believe that us adults can also have birthdays since 12 last night. After much contemplation and our repeated highlighting of this fact he finally figured it is a possibility and then sang the whole thing;)

This is the first one without mother in law around. In the four years since we moved back she was there with us for three of my last birthdays. She always used to make some sweet for me. I miss her today. Very often these days I find that void more and more. She always used to celebrate every success of mine very visibly and vocally. Even if I told her that today my team got me two birthday cakes or some such small stuff, she used to be very happy and excited about it. No one does it now:(

Going out for lunch with father in law - first time since she left. Later will meet some friends, one of them visiting from the US and been ages since I met. Looking forward to it.

How did I ?

Welcome the thirties I mean. A lot of people asked.

I am doing a daily dealings kind of post after a long time :)

Well, the day began as usual, Subhash's mom made boorelu and Mavidikaya pulihara for me.And his parents gave me a gift. The touching thing about it was that his Dad actually made the effort to buy a nice envelope to put it in on one of his previous visits to the post office :) It was so sweet of them.

Then Subhash went to work and I went about my usual business, bathing the baby, working from home, emails, calls, meetings etc etc etc. Subhash came home early and he bought a cake for me! I wasn't really expecting him to since he didn't tell me he would and usually he doesn't like surprising me ;) It was a yummy mango cake. Then we went to the temple, got Archana done, came back home and then went to Leela for dinner. There this little guy got restless and we took turns, me, Subhash and his Dad to carry and show him around while the others ate. We came home around 11 and retired.

Today, my LT gang at work got me another cake which was equally yummy! A choco-chip one and we all hogged on it. Then went about business as usual. These days when I go to work, it is a mad whirl of meetings and more meetings (obvious, considering I go only for meetings). So got back home pretty hot (from all the walking in the sun) and tired :)

That is all :)
